Disc Golf Courses Dec 02, 2008
Disc golf, which is commonly referred to as Frisbee golf, is played just like golf, except instead of a ball and hole, it's a disc and basket. Tulsa, Oklahoma, seems to have a high concentration of courses. They are located at nearly every park. This is a fun, family friendly, outdoor activity. The courses are free to play, all you need is a few discs (a driver and a putter).

The courses I usually play are at Chandler Park and McClure Park. Chandler is a good course for a beginning like me. The park is secluded, so you don't have to worry about cars or anything. Also, the course is compact, so you don't have to walk far from one basket to another. Plus the distance from the launch pad to the basket isn't far. McClure Park is a little more advanced. First of all, the park is surrounded by major roads, and you have to play by them, so be careful where you throw your disc. There is also a big creek going through the park, and yes, you have to play near it, and yes, your disc will probably go in the water. I've done it, so have the pros. My advice would be to either wear shoes and pants you don't mind getting dirty and wet, bring a dog that knows how to retrieve them, or buy a "Golden Retriever", a device made for recovering discs from the water. This course is pretty spread out and the distance from the launch pad and basket are pretty far.
