Dining by a River in Ginza Mar 10, 2008
We bumped into this restaurant Dining River in Ginza area of Tokyo. It has great ambiance, a small river runs through the restaurant! and you sit in Japanese style cubicles separated with hanging bamboo dividers. You take off your shoes to get onto the tatami, but you can set your feet down under the table, which is a good compromise for people not used to sitting on the floor. The waitress did not speak English, but tried to communicate with us so we had no real problem ordering. It was kind of an adventure to not know exactly what you have ordered.
seafood, sashimi or sushi were good, the tofu soap came with tiny specks of gold leaves! we had tempura, however the squid was a bigger serving than we thought, everything was delicious and we really enjoyed listening to the water flowing in the man made river. The bill for 2 of us came to about 100 US Dollar, so it was not cheap. However, I would recommend it to anyone ready for some good food, a little adventure.
