If there was ever a more perfect day for skiing, it was Sunday! 36 degrees, a fair amount of powder, groomed runs that just begged us to cruise down them, and only a few gathered around to meet their fate on the mountain. Only my brother and I "braved" the extensive terrain without taking a break! It was far too nice to stop for lunch, for it would take away from our ski time considering the fact that we had an ETD of 2pm! :(

Go to bed late, sleep late, leave late, arrive late... ahh, not quite the "early bird gets the worm" philosophy today, but it all worked out well.
It was only a couple of hours drive along I-70 from the State Park in Palisade to Vail. Of course we had to stop in Vail! Parking is free during the summer in both parking lots at each end of town and we chose Ford Park - the kids insisted on walking the half mile into town (bikes would have been great too as there are paths).

This was a trip I took to go see my friends who had moved up to Golden, Colorado. I've been to Colorado several times, but this was the most time spent around Golden.

A 12 hour driver from Las Vegas to spend New Years in Frisco, Colorado. Caught in a blizzard but still had a blast!!
