i went back to diddy riese after not going to it for many, many years. ...not because it was bad, it has just been inconvenient for me to go.
that being said, diddy riese is an institution. i remember going there while going to ucla and buying $1 ice cream sandwiches or $.25 cent cookies. the ice cream, i believe, is haagen daaz and comes in different flavors (e.g., peanut butter, vanilla, mint, etc.). the cookies range from candy (m&m-like), chocolate chip, white chocolate macadamia, etc. the cookies themselves are ok. but what i love about this place is that it is DIRT CHEAP serving good dessert/snack/guilty pleasure. if you go, don't just get a cookie. get an ice cream sandwich: 1. choose 2 cookies - whether the same or different ones 2. choose your ice cream flavor instant goodness! beware, prices have gone up to.... $.35 cent/cookie AND $1.50 per ice cream sandwich. yeah, it is still DIRT CHEAP. the lines are almost always long no matter what time of day or even during the la "winter." but the lines move fast. go already! |

When you drive through Westwood, it is hard to ignore the never-ending line in front of this ice cream shop.
They bake their own cookies fresh daily - multiple times daily - actually, all the freakin' time because I'm sure they would run out in a heartbeat. Ice cream sandwiches, where you can choose the cookie and ice cream flavor... Don't be deterred by the line. Just stand in it. I promise you - it moves fast! So worth it - go now! And if you have trouble finding parking in Westwood, bring a friend. Have them drive in circles while you pick up the yummy goodness that is Diddy Riese. |

All I can say is wow. Diddy Riese is a GREAT little place. The cookies are extremely cheap ($1 for 3, or even cheaper if you buy in quantity) and they are SOOO good. At peak times (such as right after a movie) things can be a little crowded.. and there is no place to sit down, but this is by far the best cookie shop I have ever been to, and it might be the best desert place in LA.
They are also famous for their cookie and ice cream sandwiches. |

I agree, Diddy Riese is pretty awesome. I'd recommend getting the ice cream sandwich, which is basically a scoop of ice cream between two delicious cookies. It's pretty heavy and after a few bites you will probably start to feel ill, but it's worth it for those first few bites ;) Open late and lots of other cool places nearby.

I Love Diddy Riese!! One time my friends and I drove 45 mins. for a $1.25 ice cream cookie. Obviously we spent more money on gas, but in the end nothing makes a person happier than a delicious ice cream cookie made from god himself!
