Classy hotel near Manila Bay; truly 5-star if u upgrade to 'Diamond Club' Sep 04, 2014
We stayed here during our summer vacation for 2014, and I chose it because it is near the Manila Ocean Park where our twins wanted to have fun. It is also by Roxas Blvd which is near the Manila Bay Area.

Normally, we choose hotels near the shopping areas like in Makati, but this time we wanted to be different. We glad we changed this time because the service at the Diamond Hotel was nice. The staff were courteous and attentive to our needs. I actually had to check out, leave for Nepal, and check-in again and they remembered me so I had the same bellboy bringing my bags to my room. They also allowed me to leave my other luggages in the hotel to wait for my return a few days later.

I upgraded to the Diamond Club (adding over $100 more per night in addition to the usual rate which was about $200-300 I think - so expect to spend over $300 per night to be Diamond Club guests), and this included being at the higher floors (25th and above I think) and also having a separate place for your breakfast and office/relaxation needs. The Diamond Club guests have a nice library and computer and food is also served in the afternoon, but we did not avail of that because we ate out instead. But for breakfast, the service was topnotch and the chef came out to greet us and made nice items for the kids.

For those who are not Diamond Club guests, there is a huge dining hall in the first floor and the food also looks awesome. In Diamond Club, you just get more "attention" from the staff, lol, and you also have more privacy.

The rooms are well-equipped with good air-conditioning, nice comfy beds, and even a weighing scale. For hotels like this, safety deposit boxes were standard and also robes/slippers....

The pool is just shallow, maybe about 4 ft (?) and so no deep ends, although our kids would have preferred deeper pools, haha...But the man guarding the pool was also courteous and attended to us well. They are also strict about swimming outfits and so make sure you have swimming trunks/swimsuits. No shorts with pockets. There is a fountain of water at the pool and the kids enjoyed going under it.

If you want to go to a mall, the Robinson's mall is nearby but you have to walk in very busy streets and it may be a bit confusing for those new to Manila's small busy streets --- the walk only takes 5 minutes or less though...I walked and needed an umbrella and they loaned me a Diamond Hotel umbrella....

Overall, a great experience and we would stay here again if we need to be near the Manila Bay.

Nice Hotel. Indeed a 5 star hotel! Apr 29, 2014
If you stay in a 5 star hotel somehow your expectations are as high as its cost. We stayed there for 5 nights and I was not that satisfied with the stay. the hotel interior speaks for itself, the food, the facilities, staff, except for the rooms (which is atleast for me the most important of all)

We stayed in there de luxe suite. Beds were not as comfy, bathroom was not as clean :( bathtub was old enough that if you step on it, it produces a sound as if it will break. internet is limited upto 3 hrs a day plus no wifi in the rooms available. local calls are still charged :(

I probably would try other 5 star hotels and see if it is something worth spending my money and get a luxury stay.

tourist trap Jul 01, 2011
The front desk played upsell games at check-in and I was in no mood for that after a long flight. The games stopped when I told them I was going to call hotels.com to have them make it right. The internet policy is 3 free hours per day and then they want to charge $12 for the rest of the day. That is unacceptable in a high end hotel, especially in a country where unlimited 3G Broadband cost $20 per month. This is one of many nice hotels on ROXAS BLVD overlooking from Manila Bay. However, what you find on the back side of these hotels are slums with many families sleeping on the street, little kids begging and some sleazy nightlife. However, I was brave enough to walk that area after dark and never felt threatened. Probably not the wisest more. The Robinsons mall is a very short walk from the hotel and you will find upscale shopping and dining there. The US embassy is also nearby..

Diamond in Manila, Philippines Sep 05, 2011
I stayed in Diamond Hotel Manila for 2 nights and the service was good. I got every I asked for and when they couldn't find the answer they went asking and got back to me within 15minutes.

Room was clean and spacious for what I paid (roughly $90 CAD per night) and the location was good. It was near all the major tourist attractions and it was just a walk away or a short (in Manila traffic), cheap cab ride to all the places that I needed to go to.

Affordable Hotel Luxury Jan 14, 2010
Paid Php5,000/night on December 6-7, 2008 with a room upgrade. Stayed for a night because I'm taking the CFA exam to held at the hotel's ballroom the following day. Had a very relaxing stay. The pool is very nice and welcoming. Walking distance from Robinsons Place (a mall) which has several of dining and bar places to choose from. A taxi ride from Intramuros and other touristy places in Manila. Since it's in Manila, it's close from the airport and Makati or The Fort (Taguig) if you fancy going for a night out.

Cheaper compared to Makati Shangrila and the likes but very nice ambiance and wonderful service :)
