Well you need to get the bus from Brighton for about £2 but apart from that totally free.
It's the most spectacular scenery in the whole of the British countryside in my opinion. Formed by the receding waters of the ice age or the work of the devil? A spectacular v-shaped valley and from the top you can see for miles, many villages in Sussex and the best view of the sea you'll ever have. There's a good (not great) but good pub at the top, a chain brewery catering for tourists but decent, filling food and reasonably priced beer. Rumour has it that on a clear day you can see to the Isle of Wight but who'd want to do that when you can jsut enjoy being there.
