Devassa is an excellent bar, where they brew their own beer and it´s very good! There are basicaly 4 kinds of: Blond, Black, Ale and Indian. There is also the Weiss one, called by "Sarara".
There are lots of devassas in Rio de Janeiro, but I personaly recomend at Flamengo. I´ve been there three times and loved. Do not miss theis snacks as well...is really great! |

Having come straight from some of London´s best pubs, you coulda say the stakes were high during my stay in Rio, the Brazilian city that never sleeps. I was staying in the Ipanema neighbourhood, where they´ve got the lot of those, such as Shenanigan´s, The Irish Pub and those types which follow the international pubs´ tracks. Me and some mates tried something different than the usual pub crawl and found ourselves in this Brazilian bar called Devassa. Now this is some grade A, excellent quality, savoury beer. One of the best I´ve tasted, and that´s a bold statement. The place is a change from the other "gringo" pubs, and the environment is not too shabby. Try it out for a jolly good time and remember, the more the merrier... cheers!
