Then new DIA (you'll LOVE it) May 01, 2008
The DIA i one of the greatest places to visit in Detroit. It is newly re-done and filled some of the finest art from around the globe. It is home to famous Diego Rivera murals, a depiction of Detroit's auto industry. The murals are seen as a historical landmark of Detroit, a must for anyone wanting to experience what Detroit was built on. Other famous artists are on display too, with special sections for "when" and "where". There is even a section for American art, displayed in what an actual American house would look like in the 1700-1800s. Detroit might have its problems (I know, I live there) but the DIA is like a beacon in beauty in the mist of all the ugly mess around it.
Plus...DIA is pretty inexpensive for what could be an all day trip, $8 for adults, $4 for youth (6-17), and $6 for seniors.
