Design Museum Gent Ghent Reviews
Belgium and design??? Yes there is!!! May 27, 2009
The Design Museum in Ghent is pretty small compared to other museums about this topic. The museum is, partly, housed in an old building, which was once a family home. At the back the building is extended with a modern day designer wing. This wing is very special because the facade towards the inner garden is 18th century look a like, but the inside is modern. The floor is adjustable so the floor can vary in hight, even localy. This feature is used during temporarily exhibitins.
Just to give you a few examples of objects: 18th century furniture, art deco furnuture and many other modern day objects like cutlery, doors, chairs, china, etc.
I've even seen a lemon juicer designed by Phillippe Starck!
