Nobody has heard of this place in Vegas...well...they should start listening more Apr 06, 2015
Originally I had planned to stay at the Luxor Hotel, however after British Airways cancelled an initial flight I decided to change my entire holiday plans (from staying 2 weeks in Vegas to travelling throughout California instead)and booked a few nights at the cheaper Desert Rose.

At first I was worried that I wouldn't get the whole 'Vegas experience' if I didn't stay at one of the more famous hotels but as soon as I arrived and walked into the room my worries were gone.

The room was huge! It's the biggest hotel room I've stayed in anywhere. There were 2 tv's, a fridge-freezer, blender, coffee maker, oven, microwave, hair dryer and cutlery. The only thing it didn't have was a kettle.

The bed was really comfortably with plenty of pillows. The bathroom was very clean and spacious and there was also a small balcony overlooking the outside pool.

The Desert Rose is about a 10 minute walk from the MGM Grand Hotel and main strip, so even though it doesn't have an on-site casino there is no shortage of them 10 minutes away (if gambling is your thing).

Vegas always has hotel offers on various sites and prices go up and down depending on whats happening that month but for the price, location from strip and overall stay I would highly recommend the Desert Rose.

Plus, if your doing one of the day trips to the Grand Canyon then the Desert Rose is pretty much the last hotel pickup point (which means you don;t have to get up as early to leave for the trip) and one of the first drop off points on the way back (which means you can get back to your hotel early) so that's another bonus.

Awesome Value in Hectic Las Vegas and Off the Strip! Jan 29, 2012
I had the pleasure of staying a week at the Desert Rose Resort located at 5051 Duke Ellington Way, in Las Vegas, Nevada 89119. There is no Resort Fee at the Desert Rose Resort.

The Desert Rose Resort is located 1½ blocks from S. Las Vegas Boulevard, and 10 minutes drive from the McCarran International Airport (shuttle service 1-way is $7 and round-trip is $13 is available ouside of baggage claim). Check-in was a breeze with Ms. Shena, at the front desk explaining the features of the property, including the daily maid service. The two-bedroom suite was quite spacious and clean, from the stove top to the dishwasher in the fully equipped kitchen, to the bed adorned with lots of pillows and linen that was cool and crisp, to the bathroom. The Desert Rose Resort amenities included a daily complimentary buffet breakfast that consisted of eggs, bacon/sausage, Starbucks Decaffeinated coffee, regular coffee, orange/apple/cranberry juices, six different cold cereals to choose from, yogurt, whole and white wheat bread, and fruit (apples, oranges and bananas). Tables and chairs are available inside the breakfast/lobby area and outside for guests to sit and enjoy their meal or you can return to your suite and enjoy eating on your private balcony. Guests can also obtain a free morning edition of USA Today newspapers from the gift shop, free wireless internet (it worked, although it was a bit slow) throughout the resort and free parking.

Every Monday through Thursday from 5pm to 7pm, the Desert Rose Resort has a Managers’ Cocktail Reception in the breakfast/lobby area where guests can enjoy beer, wine, soft drinks and light snacks (carrots and celery with dip, pretzels or chips with salsa). There is also a pool and spa area where guests can further relax, and a barbeque area where individuals can BBQ poolside. Something I did not try, since the temperature in Las Vegas exceeded 103 degrees Fahrenheit during my stay. I did however enjoy spending time in the air-conditioned gym; and yes, the machines all worked. Also, I was able to do my laundry in building’s laundry room, where an iron and ironing board provided in the suite.

The front desk staff (Ms. Rachel and others) was helpful when asked about the location of the nearest grocery store, and for a late checkout. Ms. Carrie, the concierge is not to be missed; she is quite knowledgeable about what’s happening around Las Vegas, was helpful in scheduling a Grand Canyon bus tour and even offered up free tickets to see the Nathan Burton show at the Flamingo –– Thanks! Physical security was visible throughout the resort during the day and evening hours, card-key allowed for access to the resort property from various entrances and exits on the property.

The “Duce” bus will take you north on the strip to “Downtown & Freemont Street Experience” as well as the Express bus that will take you to the Outlet Malls, stops at the head of the street. Although the resort is located near the McCarran International Airport, I did not hear any airplanes while in the suite.

Overall my stay at the Desert Rose Resort was pleasant, relaxing and well worth the price; I was very satisfied with the condition/maintenance of the hotel, comfort and cleanliness of the suite and the convenience of the resort’s location. I enjoyed immensely being able to walk from the Desert Rose Resort to and from the various casinos, attractions and shopping malls on the trip in the early mornings. I would definitely recommend the Desert Rose Resort to individuals visiting Las Vegas.

Comfortable Family resort Aug 18, 2011
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel, I wasn't expecting much for the price paid for a two bed apartment, $689.78 for two people for 7 nights. However the rooms were very spacious and clean, with a small balcony to each room and a fully fitted kitchen.

This hotel is just over a block away from the strip and does not have a casino, which meant it was a lot quieter than most other Las Vegas hotels.

There is free WIFI, a fitness centre, a BBQ area, free continental breakfast consisting of eggs and either bacon or sausages, cereal, bread, coffee / tea etc...and an evening reception with light snacks and beverages is held every Monday through Thursday.

I would happily stay here again and highly recommend.

Like living at home, close to the strip without walking through a casino Oct 28, 2010
I like Desert Rose because we had a complete one bedroom condo to ourselves and it was located close to the strip.

Doug and I are not big gamblers and I couldn't see every walk to our room being through a huge casino. As a condo property we didn't have to deal with all the negatives of staying in a casino. Realistically even on the strip the casinos are all so far apart its a long walk everywhere and since we rented a car there was no need to be in the middle of everything.

The room was very nice and the bed was VERY comfortable with tons of pillows. It had a full kitchen with coffee pot and ice maker, dining area and a comfortable sofa and entertainment center. The bathroom was fine, with a sink area separate from the private area, I only could recommend a makeup mirror in the bathroom and more counter space - but I always say that.

The resort is fairly well secured with gates to the condo areas and at night all the vehicle entrances are gated except the main entry. The lobby is open 24-7 and very well staffed. There were always several people working and never any wait for the desk.

In the morning they served a sufficient breakfast of coffees, juices, cold cereal, fresh fruit, a variety of breads or bagels, cottage cheese and hard boiled eggs. Breakfast service ended at 9 am and was very busy after 8:30 when the rush hit. However, there were plenty of people working and the food was continually stocked.

Although we didn't use the pool area, it looked to be a good size pool, properly maintained with lots of shade and seating area. The property looks like a little oasis.

If you find your self staying for a few days I would recommend Desert Rose just for the convenience of being in a homestyle atmosphere.
