Visiting all 50 US State Capitol Buildings!: Des Moines Travel Photos
posted by:
Aug 13, 1993 – Aug 13, 2009
It started innocently enough; I visited Juneau, Alaska in June 1993 and explored the State Capitol building. A few months later, It was Montgomery, Alabama's. In the course of time, it became a hobby. Near the end it became a bit of an obsession. Then, in August of 2006, I visited my 50th US State Capitol building in Pierre, SD. (Yeh!) Yes, I know, I'm a geography nerd.... All entries are maintained in on the 'first visit' date.

DREAM DESTINATION: Act 1, Scene 1 - Dash to DesMoines (Iowa): Des Moines Travel Photos
posted by:
Aug 11, 2008
As anticipated, the Dash to DeMoines on I80 was a straight line. For 16 hours and 798 miles we buckled-up,pushed the throttle forward, clicked on autopilot, set the cruise at 75 and sat back to enjoy the farms, cows and corn fields. My Co-Pilot, Susan, took a 2 hour snooze in the sleeper cabin and Geepis (GPS)our First-mate didn't have much to say. The picture of the farm can be imagined in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana or Iowa; did I mention they grow corn out here!?

Some of you may have heard of the Hezbollah crisis: I was there in the midst! Many people hear about the turmoil in Israel, however, most people rarely hear of the hospitality of the people or of their amazing generosity. I experienced the Hezbollah crisis as well as the turmoil between the Arabs and the Jews as I traveled through uncharted territory and heard the story from the people who live it out on a daily basis. It is something that will forever be etched upon my mind.
