The first time that I went to Mancora was on march during holidays, I take first a bus from Lima to Piura (14 hours) and then I have to go to Mancora with a bus for 4 hours more or a "van" for 2,5 hours :) I decide to stay at hotel in front of the beach, with great view and cheap :) I love the sunset there. And at night we have differents places to go to drink and dance .........ohhh is a great place to go and relax....I returned on the end of may :) Mancora is a great place!!!!!!

Máncora, a lovely beach town located on the Peruvian coast. I never thought that there were beaches here! Silly me!! Too bad we didn't have much time to spend here . . . time was really limited, and we had to hurry up if we wanted to make it to Lima by Christmas Eve! So we just spent one evening here, visited the town's beach for a short while, and then we were back on our way. Apres quelques heures en faisant du stop, un americain et sa mifa nous amenent a Máncora. Une ville pleine ...

What do you write about at a tiny, lazy beach town?  The only things to do are sleep, eat and go to the beach.  Well, ok, there are a few more things to do to occupy the time.  They have dune buggies and surfing lessons, kite surfing or wind surfing as well.  At night you can go bar hopping to the little places but that soon loses its charm when you see the same people night after night and the DJs play the same songs.  So in the day you read, check your email, ...

Hot sun, isolation, everyone in boardies and flip flops and awesome waves this is my type of place! Where can I find such paradise? In the desert of course, to be more precise the northern regions of Peru! Famed for its barren landscape and many flourishing fishing cities this part of Peru boasts some of the best waves found in Sth America with Chicalmayas being the longest left-heander in the WORLD! So it wasnt hard to twist my arm and get me to go on a desert mission to find some waves...

Mancorá - Damn these tourist towns

In search of our perfect beach town, we arrived in Mancora and were pretty dissapointed. It was simply touristy, and some Peruvians there were out to rip us off (tourist = money tree!). Since that kind of place  is not our style, we walked around the beach, held hands, ate, slept, and got the hell out of there, to a town 100 kms. north. Good riddance!

I really didn't find Mancora that exciting and was happy to leave after one day. We thought we'd spoil ourselves a bit by taking a "Cama" overnight bus to Guayaquil. We had already booked the ticket and paid but as we walked past the office in the afternoon the woman who had sold us the ticked waved at us frantically and told us that the Cama bus had been cancelled due to some technical difficulties. Still wanting to leave that day we took the only other option which was a more economic servi...
