After all my time travelling, including many hundreds of kilometres supposedly along the coast of Peru, I hadn´t seen the sea since I had flown over it many months ago.  There is something about the sound of the sea, which along with watching fire at night, I think mankind is endlessly attracted to.  So it was great to experience it eventually. Hunachaco is a lovely little place right on the sea front.  Of course it was a bit cloudy and not so warm when I went so no swim...

My travels in the north of Peru, from Lima, up the coast to the border with Ecuador and then east over the Andes and into the jungle. I had to come back to Cleveland unexpectedly, but I hope to start a new travel blog as soon as I can!

Hi all My name is Mark Robertson, 27 years old from Wellington, New Zealand. I'm off to Bogota, Colombia on 4 March 2008 from Auckland New Zealand, via Buenos Aires. Spending 1 month in Colombia attending a Colombian friend's wedding before backpacking my way from Colombia to Argentina, via Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia over the following 5 months.

Spent two weeks in Peru. Went from the Jungle to Cusco to White water rafting to Mountain Biking to hiking over a mountain to get to Machu Picchu to Home Stays on Lake Titicaca.

von lima geht es weiter richtung norden. die busfahrt (erneut mit cruz del sur, doch diesmal ohne zwischenstopp fuers kofferzaehlen) ist angenehm, da wir uns die luxurioeseste klasse, full-cama, leisten, und fuehrt uns 8h lang der kueste entlang. diese ist nicht etwa gruen, sondern besteht aus einem breiten streifen an eindruecklichen sandduenen und steilen klippen. dazwischen entdeckten wir ab und zu armliche huetten mit waenden aus strohmatten oder durchqueren doerfer die wegen fischtr...

So, hier nun also ein bisschen etwas von dem, was wir in 5 Wochen in Ecuador, Peru und nochmal Ecuador mit der Kamera eingefangen haben! Eindruecke einer nicht immer leichten aber dafuer abenteuerreichen und vorallem schoenen Reise :)

After an overnight bus from Huaraz to Trujillo, we immediately escaped the bustling city of Trujillo for a more quiet laid back beachy surfy town for rest and relaxation. Peru is a country graced with intriguing history, welcoming people, amazing food, infectious dance rhythms, and breathtaking geography.

Heading south from Cajamarca, the road is briefly paved then you leave the pavement behind for a very, very long time. About four hours south of Cajamarca is Cajabamba, a small town with a sizeable market, but otherwise un-noteworthy. A woman on the bus who lives there asked me what I was planning on doing in Cajabamba, I told her that I was planning to travel south to Huamachuco.
