Aguas Calientas.....or Hot Springs {water} is a small town built at the edge of Machu Picchu. At the end of the 4 hour train ride from Cusco, the town is all uphill, Restuarants and Hostels galore. At the top of the hill or town is the Hot Springs where you can sit in the Hot Baths for about $4 USD. There isn't much to see in this little town...although it does have it's own charm, I wouldn't reccommend spending more than a couple of days here!

Big problem is the rain -- it is constant making the way difficult and dangerous. Many parts of the trail have been washed away by a very angry and dangerous river and the rain. Take your poison: slip off the cliff and die or slip into the river and quickly drown. One of the most exciting things I have ever done came ...

One Crazy Train Ride!

Cusco, Peru -› Pisac, Peru -› ...
Well before dawn we rolled out and hauled our overnight bags to the train station.  If you are not hardy enough to hike the Inca Trail, the only way to get to Machu Picchu is by train.  As mentioned earlier, Cusco is nestled in a bowl or valley.  A straight path over the mountains is not possible and a mountain pass is not available.  The train ride was a unique experience as it alternated between forward and reverse, zig-zagging its way up the mou...
