After much planning and saving, I've finally made the leap across the atlantic and landed in beautiful Bogota. I chose the Madrid route so I could get a glimpse of that wonderful city en-route. The flight was 11 hours of the usual excitement mixed with stiff neck, itchy legs and nodding off to sleep. Spend more time in The Botero Museum.
Go to the Museum of Gold, La Casa de la Moneda, Museo del Banco de la Republica.
Go to the 20 de Julio Museum- a copy of the declaration of Independence is here and the house is also the house where all the revolution started.
Visit Monserrate - the church on top of the hill.
Take a day trip to Zipaquira where the Salt Cathedral is located.
Take a day trip to Villa de Leyva: a colonial town about 1 hr ouside the city limits.

During my stay, we had classes early day at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. I particularly loved the architecture of the Language Department. Made me feel like learning ;)
