Soy Del Verde.........I'm from Green....   I'm not a huge soccer fan but I have always wanted to check out a South American soccer game. You'll always hear how crazy the South American fans can be at soccer stadiums, all of us wanted to go to a game. Our Colombian friend, hooked us up with tickets to go watch the Medellins soccer team: Atlético Nacional   That day, they were playing one of their big rivals, Bogota Los Millonarios....

July 19th: A trip I’d been waiting to take for what seemed like an eternity finally came, Colombia! Our bags were packed, the animals in good hands, and we were off! We met my Aunt Sue and her two youngest daughters, Debbie and Celeste, at the Philly International Airport. Mom, Dad, Monica (sister), Aunt Sue and I had a flight out of Philly to Miami. Here, in Miami, we waited for Debbie and Celeste who had a later flight to Miami. We also met up with Aunt Sue’s oldest daughter, Christine...

It began to a rain as well. It felt very tropical. We arrived at the Casa Kiwi Hostal Its located with 5 blocks from Parque Lleras. It is where all the bars, chic clubs, shops and restaurants are located at. We checked in a room with 2 bunk beds for 4 people. The place is very clean but the b...

For the past week I have hung out in the City of Medellin, a place once the principal headquarters for Colombia´s cocaine cartels and home to Pablo Escobar, who was taken out of this world back in 1993.  It rains every day here, but I really dig this city, thus the reason for the long stay.  Part of it is the cooler temps, public transport and laid back vibe, but I´ve also found a great place to land for the week.  The hostel I´m staying in is a house in a chill neighborhood...

I really love Colombia. The first time I went here IN 2001, I spent a month in Medellin, but this trip decided to travel around the country. I had a friend who grew up here so I stayed with him and his family. I understand many people think Colombia is dangerous and stay away from this great country, but as long as you take precautions and understand what not to do, the trip is not as dangerous as it seems. It helped that I knew someone to show me around also. Medellin is a great city. Smal...

Columbia was the only Latin American country Ive been to besides Mexico.... and man did it leave me thirsty for more adventure. First of all the Dollar does very well there, so we were living life very well. Clubbin every nite with bottle service in the range of 5-6 bottles a night.... we stayed at a mansion with two maids, a cook, two front desk girls, an event coordinator, a club guide (to make sure we didnt mess with the wrong crowd), and a driver... We also went to a friend...

Colombia is often showed as extremely dangereous. But I can tell you that this is not exactly true. Ofcourse there are still areas you better stay away but if you inform yourself well, there is no reason to stay away from this beautiful undiscovered country with it's great nature, people and culture. Colombia has everything to become a top destination for backpackers! Qué viva Colombia!

Medellin is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to in Colombia. Actually it's the only city I've been to in Colombia. You can easily distinguish the culture and the way people are in Colombia from the people here in the US. Tourist attractions include, La Plaza Botero, Metro Cable, Penol, "El Hueco" not really a tourist attraction but you can certainly get cheap stuff. The rich culture of Medellin is also in music which is mostly Cumbia, Vallenato and Champeta which is popular.

Hello all,This morning I was determined to get out and see the sights in Medellin.  From my hotel it is a 15 block walk to the closest Metro station.  I have walked it every time so far, but I wanted to figure out the bus situation to prove I could do it.  I walked over to Calle 10a, the closest main road that heads west and waited until the first bus came along.  There was a sign that actually said Estacion Poblano on the front.  That was easy, and I made note of the...

Well, it's been about a week here in Medellin. So much has happened. And really no space to talk about it all. I did get a chance to spend some time with Ereciclaje and did talk to Pato about Gratimira and the project here. I've not yet decided what I'm going to do. But, I spoke at length with the Director of Change the World who started the Darien Foundation and works closely with Women Head of Households in Cali. They are starting a new ecovillage there and chances are that this may be my n...

somehow it didnt click for me with medellineven though i have a lot of respect for what they did with the former most dangerous city in the world just 15 years ago... it (feels) absolutely safe, definitely safer than other south american cities like rio, lima, cusco, etc. walked around at night in the areas near the metro or the upper-class poblera where my hostel was.but they just overdone it. its like a bad clone of miami without any substance or style. parque lleras, the tacky center of ni...

After escaping the she-males, we finally made our way up north to Medallin, one of Colombias largest and coolest cities... We arrives very late on Tuesday night, so all we did was check into our hostal, drink a beer, and go to sleep. The next few days were a lot better though. We wake up and meet everyone staying in the hostal, a cool group of people actually. A Frenchman, German, Italian, New Zealand, 3 from Holand and many other European travelers. See, no Americans come to Colombia ...
