Denver Museum of Nature and Science Reviews
Fun Museum with great new attractions May 05, 2010
This museum is one of the city's most popular attractions, drawing almost two million visitors a year. There are permanent displays on North American Indians, Egyptian mummies, dinosaurs, and minerals, all stunningly detailed and vast. The museum also hosts such traveling exhibits as Ramses II, and Imperial Tombs of China. Popular traveling exhibits such as Body Worlds and King Tut make stops here. A great IMAX cinema, gift shop, planetarium, and cafe are also on-site.
The American Museum and Nature and Science in New York makes a big deal of the fact that most of their dinosaur models are made with actual bone, rather than casts. Well, not only is this true for a good deal of Denver's dinos - in fact ours were found right here! The world's largest Rhodochrosite specimen makes its home here, and was also found in Colorado.
The favorite exhibit is also the newest exhibit, Expedition Health. In the exhibition gallery, visitors experience highly-interactive, highly-personalized activities, immerse themselves in a theater experience that will engage all of their senses, look at microscopic cells from their own bodies in a laboratory, participate in live demonstrations and programs, and meet new “buddies” who will help them learn about their health. It is a great exhibit and is one that is very popular with the kiddos.
It is a great museum that is reasonably priced. Coupons are easy to come by, so check out local magazines and coupon books.
