Denny's Beer Barrel Pub Clearfield Reviews
Largest Burger in America Nov 24, 2008
I first heard of Denny's beer Barrel Pub from Heinz (jdax57)... it's on his dream destination list and I knew when I moved to be an hour away from it I just HAD to go. So my friend Michael and I ended up going.
Denny's has been around since 1977 and is home to the worlds largest hamburger and they have the ultimate hamburger eating challenge! They have a couple different challenges... 2 you can do right on the spot... the Pub Challenger which is 2 full pounds of Beef plus the trimmings... if you eat it all in one hour you will receive a Denny's t-shirt, 50% off the price and put in a hall of fame for $15.95. The Pub Super Challenger is 3 pounds of beef with all the trimmings and you have an hour and a half to eat it... if you eat it all they pay the bill for you plus you get a t-shirt and put in the hall of fame for $21.95. 24 hours notice is required for the Ye Olde 96er which is 6 pounds of beef and you get 3 hours to do it for $35.95 (the Ye Olde 96er has been featured on The Food Network, Travel Channel, Tony Danza Show, Good Morning America, Today Show, David Letterman's Top 10, and Country Fried Home Videos on the Country Music Channel). There's also a Beer Belly Buster; one for 15 pounds for $49.95 and a fifty pounds (this is not a challenge) for $179.95 and if you give them 72 hour notice there is a Beer Barrel Main event Burger for $379.95 for a 100 pound burger!
One person has only ever finished the 15 pund burger last month... so it was a Huge Ordeal! Michael and I didn't end up going for the big burger because we didn't know you had to give them 24 hours notice...so there's going to be another trip up in the future!
But it was an enjoyable experience and well worth the 1 hour drive... and we even took the long way so it took about an hour and a half! But the menu is HUGE... imagine about 7 pages of entrees with no phot's taking up space. The hamburger page took up 2 pieces of paper and there are TONS of selections...but just to let you know they only prepare the burgers medium, medium well and well done! So if you like it medium rare you're out of luck!
But going here is well worth the drive and I totally recommend it if you're driving across Pennsyvania on I-80!
