Den Haag (The Hague) is a beautiful city. It's the third-largest city in the Netherlands after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. It's located near the coast with Amsterdam in the north and Rotterdam to its south.

Den Haag is (together with Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht) part of the conglomerate metropolitan area Randstad, with a population of 6,659,300 inhabitants. 2,500,000 of them live in the four cities. 515,000 live in Den Haag.

Den Haag is the actual seat of the government, but not the official capital of the Netherlands, a role set aside by the Dutch constitution for Amsterdam.

Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands lives and works in Den Haag. All government ministries and foreign embassies are located in the city, as well as the Hoge Raad der Nederlanden (The Supreme Court), the Raad van State (Council of State) and many lobbying organizations. Den Haag has a rich history with many beautiful buildings and houses from previous eras to prove it.

Den Haag houses a lot of international organizations and portrays itself as the international city of peace. The Peace Palace, the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the OPCW are just a few examples.

The famous picture, "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Johannes Vermeer, can be found at the 'Mauritshuis' one of the many fine museums of Den Haag.

Den Haag is absolutely a beautiful city! There are so many interesting places to visit.   The famous painting ‘Girl with a pearl earring’ by Johannes Vermeer is places in a house called Mauritshuis. There are so many amazing and famous paintings in Mauritshuis!   Binnenhof (a collection of buildings in Den Haag) has been the location of meetings of the Dutch parliament since 1446, and has been the centre of Dutch politics for centuries. The buildings are very beautiful ...

I had promised Doug some noodles from Yam Yam noodles To Go (sic) and could I find it?  Could I heck.  It was not behind the Binnestad.  Nor was it in the shopping centre.  We found it once I gave up and went back to the station.  So this entry is really only here to explain the photos!

We slept til noon but before it's dark, we'll have every picnic basket thats in Jellystone park...  Well, it was more like 11.  But it is so nice to sleep in!  The Novotel places bowls of Granny Smith apples here and there so we had a good apple for breakfast and some "make it yourself in your room" coffee (also, not bad!) and we were ready to go.  Today we're heading for Delft.  Another famous place I have always wanted to see - famous for it's beautiful tree li...

November 12 I arrived late at Tijs with Maikel we talked for a while before he left back and the time was being to go to sleep in his appartment of Scheveningen. So I prepared myself my mattress and the sleeping time was welcome after the previous week end where I was pretty hang over in the morning but also in great cosy feelings! The hitch-hiking was hard for that reason, that I still felt the beer then!---------------November 13 I woke up late and went to meet tijs in town in the aftern...
