Delray Beach Garlic Fest Reviews
Rides, music and an abundance of food - with garlic Mar 14, 2011
Delray Beach holds the Garlic Fest every year, and every year it's a big hit! Plenty of carnival rides, live music, and plenty of merchants and food vendors. Sadly, this is the first time I've ever attended. But I finally managed to get off work to go for a day during the festival, which usually runs during the last weekend in February. It costs $10 to get in, and each ticket (for rides or food) cost $1. I bought about $20 worth. There were lots of things I wanted to try, especially the garlic ice cream!
I attended with my friend and his daughter. We had a great time, putting her on all the rides ... or at least the ones she would get on lol. We strolled through the vendors, and I tried some different - and some very garlicky - foods.
I bought some garlic seasoning and some hot sauce; I also had an arepa - a Hispanic food. It's like a cornbread pancake with mozzarella cheese in the middle. And I also had some garlic conch salad and garlic Argentine BBQ.
But like I said earlier, what I was really looking forward to was the garlic ice cream! I was looking all over the the grounds for the stand, and I finally found it...but it was closed! The vendor had sold out of all the garlic ice cream. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I didn't think garlic flavored ice cream would be THAT popular. Now I know better...
Anyway, I had a great time, and I plan to go back next year.
