 WOW...what a view!! Oct 05, 2006
Rome was the last stop on a huge trip. We were initially supposed to fly home on my birthday but decided to stay an extra day; the only problem was that we could not find a hotel for the additional night. Since everything available last minute was ridiculously expensive so we settled on the Gladiatori, because of the magnificent view!!
This hotel is incredible. The hotel directly faces the Colosseum and has a gorgeous roof-top garden for drinks and food. The staff are accomodating and pleasant. If eating in the hotel, keep in mind that they only serve light food in the evening - tapas style - but this was excellent. I'm not sure if they don't allow those not staying at the hotel to go to the roof-top garden/bar or if it is just a hidden gem, but the views at sunset of the Colosseum from that perspective are incredible. Even though it was a flawless stay I still think it was expensive...guess that is relative. For a special occasion this would be ideal.  Part of the Rome travel blog
