DeGrazia Art in the Sun
DeGrazia Art in the Sun Tucson Reviews
DeGrazia's Haunt Nov 18, 2010
Tucson's famous artist Ted DeGrazia has many of his art housed and exhibited at the gallery built in honor of him "DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun". Located up on the hill at the intersection of Skyline and Swan, it is one of it's kind in Tucson. The structure is that os low slung adobes (earth bricks)set among mordern structures. The structure was built by the artist himself with help of his fiends.
My artist friend Wayne Belger of "Boyofblue Art" is the one who took me there one evening last year. We particularly enjoyed the compound which is all constructed of desert materials form the surrounding area. cacti, dry wood, rocks etc. The gallery used to be his home were he lived and did most of his work.
The exhibits are priceless and worth seeing. There is a gift shop and a small church/ prayer section next to the gift shop as well. The 10 acre lot on which it is located is definitely a historica site.
It is also listed on 101 things to do in Tuscon.
