De witte leeuw Reviews
De Witte Leeuw Jul 31, 2009
Located on the beautiful Graslei in the Old Towncenter of Ghent, where they get their nice terrace to sit down and enjoy the view on the river and across to the Korenlei.
We had a light meal earlier that day, but felt we wanted to go for a sweet, or dessert. So we sat down on the terrace, ordered a "Wafel" (Wafre) with chocolate sauce for Maartje and a Creme brulée for me. We also had something to drink, and I am so glad they serve "koffie verkeerd" here in Belgium, (Koffie verkeerd - Coffee wrong - is coffee with hot milk, the "wrong" is because there is more milk in it than coffee) nicely served in a big coffee glass. We did not have to wait long before our desserts were brought to our table, and it tasted good. We felt comfortable, looking at the people around us who were enjoying the good food which was arranged with care on the big plates. This is really "Bourgondisch genieten", (enjoy life at a Burgundian style). Part of the The result of reading a history novel - Ghent travel blog |

De witte leeuw at Gent Jul 10, 2009
De Witte Leeuw is a cosy Burgundian restaurant at the beautiful Graslei in the historic city centre of Ghent. We are a very busy restaurant, especially famous for Ghent’s typical dishes, grilled dishes and fresh salads. You can enjoy a picturesque view on our spacious terrace bordering the Lys bank. You’ll think you’ve returned to the Middle Ages. The great hall at our upper floor is perfectly suited for groups visiting Ghent, who want to enjoy our group menus. In short, if you’d like a delicious meal for a fair price at a breathtaking location, visit De Witte Leeuw.
