De Oude Bakkerij Medemblik Reviews
Sugar, sugar, chocolate and more sugar Jun 15, 2004
(Date visited is a guess!)
I haven't been to this museum for ages, but people I know have. This museum hasn't changed in years!
Okay, I must admit it does change it's exhibitions and products in the shop, but not location or main exhibition. This museum is about old bakeries in the Netherlands (the country) so it shows old bakery stuff like mixing machines, sugar loafs, bonbons, chocolate letters and speculaas. All products produced in the mueum are sold in the shop. The shop is allso the entrance to the museum.
I remember the last exhibition I visited (about 8 year ago) showed models of buildings and such in sugar. Apperantly this is a form of art from the early 1900's. Not high art, but more like art made by common people.
This museum is all in Dutch, but the volunteers are able to speak a few words in English.
The steam tram to Hoorn is nearby, this can easily be combined for a daytrip to or from Hoorn.
