"De Geletterde Mens"

You feel like you've just entered a typewriter museum when you walk into this brasserie on the Kolonel Dusart square in Hasselt. The walls are bookcases with volumes of books and old, ancient typewriters. One of the tables has been made out of an old printing press. It is obviously the most popular table.

You can sit at the bar for a drink, but you can also make reservations for a table for lunch or dinner. The brasserie serves cold sandwiches, panini's and croques, but also has a full hot menu. There are excellent pasta dishes, fish and typical Belgian dishes like 'stoemp' and Flemish 'stoofcarbonades', but the place is especially known for its ribs.

It is advisable to make a reservation in the weekend. The underground parking is just across the street and if you walk outside and turn the corner, you're walking into Hasselt's nightlife district.

"De Geletterde Mens" might be a good idea to start a long night in Hasselt.
