Delicious Pancakes and Poffertjes in Amsterdam Oct 18, 2008
Happened to wander in here on a cold day. The restaurant is a round building, very reminiscent of a Carrousel, hence the name. The servers were all super nice. The menu has a great variety of choices, you can get various toppings on your pancakes and poffertjes. They also have eggs, ham etc. The hot chocolate is served in a tiny flower pot, so cute ! This is just a nice relaxed casual place to go for breakfast or brunch ( I actually went for lunch :o) ) The poffertjes were AMAZING ! Really soooo delicious, if you go definitely try these tasty little treats ! It is right near the Heineken Brewery. I would definitely would go here again and am craving the poffertjes ! Also I spilled my hot chocolate and the waitress felt bad for me and gave me a free one, even though it was totally my fault. So sweet !

OMG... you're one of those rare souls that has seen more of Amsterdam than the coffee shops... Kudos to you for making a stand for all of us weaker road warriors... lol :o)

Looove your description of the cup the hot chocolate was served in! This is actually a pretty standard cup in The Netherlands, mostly referred to as a "melkbeker" (milk cup).

Though I've now been to Amsterdam three times now. I still love going back there. The carefree attitude of the people, the canals and the fabulous buildings always make it a welcoming place. I'd love…Amsterdam, Pavil Joen de Carrousel. Our waiter spoke 5 languages! His English was excellent. He had been speaking French I had noticed…
