Daytrip to Sintra Aug 03, 2017
Sintra with Pena park with Pena Palace (Palácio da Pena), the Moorish Castle, the Convento dos Capuchos, the Quinta da Regaleira (Regaleira Palace and Gardens) and Monserrate is a easy daytrip from Lisbon.

Get there by train from Ross station, quite frequent and about 30 minutes. In Sintra you have 2 circuit bus lines taking you to all the major sights, bus 434 (€ 5) to Pena Palace, Moorish Castle and the Convento dos Capuchos and bus 435 (€ 2,50) to Quinta da Regaleira and Monserrate.

The Quinta da Regaleira a mixture of Roman, Gothic, Renaissance, and Manueline styles with symbols related to alchemy, Masonry, the Knights Templar, and the Rosicrucians is a amacing place with a wonderful garden. It was finished in 1910.

The Quinta do Relógio and the Monserrate Palace where designed in a mix of Romanticism and Mudéjar Moorish Revival with Neo-Gothic elements. The Pena Palace, originaly a monastery and rebuilt in the mid 19. century in a similar mix of styles.

Sintra. Mar 29, 2017
Sintra is a hilltop village made by three areas. Estefania; the modern area; with the train and the bus stations. Sintra-Vila; with the Royal Palace. Sao Pedro; located at some kilometers from Sintra-Vila.

What to see in Sintra (I mean in Sintra-Vila);

The Royal Palace. Perhaps it has Moorish origin. Additions were made in XV and XVI centuries. It has two huge white chimneys and some Manueline decorations.

The Castle of Mouros. It dates from the early period of the Moorish occupation (8th Century). King Alfonso Henriques conquered it in 1147.

The Palacio da Pena; a fairytale castle in the woods.

Quinta da Regaleira. It is an estate with a neo-Maueline palace.
