Daytrip to Shenzhen Feb 18, 2017
For a day trip to Shenzhen take a local train from Hong Hom station (the line is also connecting with several Metro lines) to Lu Wo station at the Chinese border, about 40 minutes. 43,50 Hong Kong $ from Sham Shui Po, 39 from Hong Hom....

Most EU citizens, Canadiens, Australiens and New Sealanders get a visa at the border for 168 Yuan, British pay 468 Yuan, Americans, French, Philippinos and Indiens don't get it.

The visa office is after the Hong Kong immigration at the first floor, outside you have to fill out a form and there is a money exchange with bad rates.

This visa is valid 5 days and in Shenzhen only.

Next you have to fill out a immigration form and go through the Chinese immigration, after the immigration the money changers have even worse rates, the best one at the entrance of the Shenzhen Metro.

Many Metro ticket machines accept only 1 Yuan coins and (almost new) 5 Yuan bills. Price depends on distance, to Huaqiang station (good area for electronic products and cell phones, you can get there excellent prices if you haggle very hard) is 3 Yuan.

Returning to Hong Kong you have to navigate first through a labyrinth and steps up and down past several duty free stores.

If you are looking for copy products the Luohu Commercial City above the bus terminal at the border might be interesting (but importing those thing to your country might bring a lot of problems).
