Daytrip to Kuranda Feb 14, 2017
Kuranda is a small town in the rain forest north of Cairns. The railway was built in 1891 and became a destination for the local tourĂst. In the nineteen seventies it was discovered by the hippies which are still there selling handicrafts and art. Getting there by train or cable car is nice but expensive.

The public bus from Cairns to Kuranda was (april 2010) about A$ 5 each way, quite frequent, leaving Cairns from Lake street Transit Mall (next to Shields street). Kuranda is small enough for walking.
