Daytrip to Bad Ischl Oct 13, 2017
Bad Ischl is the main town of the Salzkammergut, where salt was (and stil is) mined and processed, Austrian since the 13. century. The heyday of Ischl starts in the 19th century. 1823 was the founding year for the first Ischler Spa. Bad Ischl was from 1849 to 1914 the summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph I and was the summer residence of many popular composers, especially Anton Bruckner, Johann Strauss, Franz Lehar and Johannes Brahms.

From Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station) with the frequent bus 150, 2.3 hours, a very nice ride past Wolfgangsee and the Fuschlsee, train is about the same time, nice views along Traunssee, but a change in Attnang Puchheim and a bit more expensive.

From Vienna the fastest connections are about 3 hours, with early online booking from € 19 onway, change in Attnang Puchheim.
