Daytrip To Gosau Lake Feb 18, 2017
There are different ways to go to Gosausee from Salzburg by public transport:

There is the frequent bus 150 to Bad Ischl, 1 hour, and from there to Gosausee bus 542 (maybe a change in Hallstatt Gosaumühle), 50 minutes and about € 15. If you start early you can include Hallstatt (change bus in Hallstatt Gosaumühle).

Less frequent but a nice way to get there from Golling an der Salzach (train station Golling-Abtenau, Salzburg to Werfen and on to Zell am See) bus 470 with a change in Gosau Abzw Pass Gschütt (Gosau village) bus 542 and maybe also in Abtenau, about 2.5 hours about € 14. If you start early you can include Burg Hohenwerfen or Eisriesenwelt (train from Salzburg to Werfen). Between Golling and Gosau the bus is running more often on school days (not clear indicated at the bus stops! better use the online time table).

The water of this lake is quite cold, swimming only on hot days, diving is possible, with very good visibility. There is a cable car from the lake to the Gablonzer Hütte with great views and many hiking trails (maybe to long for a daytrip), a short and easy hiking trip to Hinterer Gosausee.
