Dawson City River Hostel Reviews
Quirky amazing campsite/hostel right by the water Jun 28, 2008
Located on the west side of Dawson City, this amazing campsite/hostel is one of the best places we stayed. The hostel is covered with signs, a favourite of the owner Dieter. I'm not sure even where to begin with this place! It offers almost anything you could need...the camp store sells a random assortment of necessities, showers and sauna are included and there's a fun (though sometimes intimidating, what with all the more permanent residences being great friends) common room with plenty of books and couches.
At the 'bottom' of the campground, nearest the water, are plenty of tent pads as well as a few random stationary bike. The campground has both singles and group rooms. There's also an area for long-term campers (example: college aged people working in town). Nearby are the kitchen and the common rooms. And just a bit up the hill, the outhouse and prospector's bath.
The owner, Dieter, is available almost any time if you just want to hang out or hear about great things to do in and around Dawson...just ask! He also has bikes and canoes for rents. And it's an official member of Hostelling International.
A single tent is $14/night but it's $9 per person otherwise.
