Davmat Restaurant Freetown Reviews
best inexpensive meal in Freetown Nov 12, 2010
Tired of plasas and rice but don't want to splash out at a proper restaurant? In my opinion, Davmat Restaurant near Murray Town junction offers the best value for money of all of Freetown's (admittedly limited) dining options.
Davmat is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall (only 4 tables), but it's bright and clean. The owner, Miranda, is ever-present and friendly, and with a day's notice can also prepare food as a catering service.
The food is as solid as it gets in Freetown, and the real draw are the fish fingers: barracuda breaded, seasoned, and lightly fried. Some ketchup, lime juice, and/or Miranda's peppeh sauce (but be careful, a tiny amount on the tine of one fork will light up your mouth), and you won't find anything much tastier in Freetown. There is also fried fish and fried chicken, along with a variety of sides: potatoes, fried plaintains, kebbe, and - amazingly for Freetown - vegetables. African food is also on offer, and that portion of the menu varies day by day.
Le 12,000 - Le 15,000 will get you several fish fingers and a few sides: more than enough to leave you happy.
