A festival that captures the spirit of a town Oct 29, 2013
Billed as the world's coolest festival, Darwin Fridge Festival is simply fridge art. People are asked to paint, decorate or sculpt the humble fridge.

Fridges are a way of life in Darwin due to the ever present heat and range from the petite but essential beer fridge to the more fancy stainless steel monstrosities that grace mansions.

The festival has a theme - this years was recycled arts, environmental awareness and sustainability - not that the theme is necessarily evident from all of the entrants. Most importantly it is simply a celebration of art but by using the humble fridge, the festival is able to capture the humour and essence of Darwin.

The festival is held in October each year and has now been running for 4 years. The last 2 years the fridges have been displayed at Darwin Waterfront.

A must see if you are in town.
