Inn and prehistoric site Nov 16, 2010
This needs an extra website as I am killing two birds with one stone. I have given the Dartmoor Inn's website but you might also like to see http://www.britainexpress.com/attractions.htm?attraction=3444 for the remains.

The fact that I have put the two together should not detract from either. I am sure there must have been some sort of hostelry on this site when it was the most southerly route for pack horses between Devan and Cornwall. The present building dates from hte 17th century and it is still possible to stay there. it's a long time since I was there but I have no doubt that they still serve food and drinks to be enjoyed along with their wonderful outlook.

That takes me to the site. It's not a matter of looking for a single outstanding feature - rather a matter of relatively common features in sufficient abundance to be special. There are two stone rows, solitary standing stones, burial cairns, and a stone circle. That's in addition to 36 hut circles in four separate enclosures.
