Dar Essalam Marrakech Reviews
Great Food, Location, Music and Show Jan 03, 2011
This restaurant was recommended to us by the staff at Riad Bab Marrakech and boy, were they right!
The architecure was really special: Large, ornate arches and detailed mosaic work too on walls, ceilings and pillars. Great lighting. Massive, long entryway along dimly lit halls to the main dining room. Big room with a massive, red, intricately detailed dome and chandelier.
Live music at a tasteful volume, playing and singing mellow, traditional Arabic music. Great players and perfect mood setter. There was a bellydancing display and the girl worked the room of tourist diners well; getting almost every guy up to dance from each table. not me. ("Sorry, sister"). A lady balancing lit candles on a tray on her head while dancing was the 2nd act after the bellydancer.
The food was also really good, as they offered 3 course dinners from 250 to 400 dirhams. Good pricing for the food and service offered. Tasty traditional dishes and good portions. Beer was a decently priced at around 40dh and wine was affordable too. It was a really good meal, all-told. Great atmosphere.
I would highly recommend Dar Essalam for a good meal, in a classy setting and a good price too. Check it out if you're looking for good dining in the medina.
