Driving to Belmopan, Belize from Milwaukee, Wisconsin was life-altering to say the least! (Yes, I loved every minute of it! :) ) Once in Belize, I spent some time getting to know the people and exploring as much of the country as I could. Hopefully, some of these pics will give you guys a feel of how wonderful Belize truly is.

So this was one long day. We first drove to the Mayan Caves, and after that, went back to TEC, packed everything, then drove to Dangriga where a motor boat was ready to pick us up. This is where we first met Cait, one of our guides. When we get to the first caye, we are pleased to find all our tents to be up and ready for us. Dangriga Site Visit

Saturday, myself, the Belize Red Cross Director General, Lorena (Logistics) and a disaster committee member went to Dangriga to complete a site visit/assessment.  As you can see from the photos below, the damages to the flood caused in the community were intense, with some 250 families estimated to have recieved intense damages. The Belize Red Cross is diligently working to distribute needed relief items and thus far has assessed nearly 201 household (just in the South of the Country)....

So we planned to go to Hopkins but decided to get off the bus at Dangriga instead. 3 boys from London also stopped at Dangriga and joined us in the cab to a great little hostal called Bluefields. The bus ride there was hilarious as we sat at the back with a group of rather large Caribbean women who were very jovial, joking about everything and all had very booming, loud laughs.
