Littered with shipwrecks, ancient rock paintings, and kopji's (hills consisting of large stones), Damaraland is a frequently photographed desert coastline. Though quite barren, there are plenty of animals here, including elephants, kudu, springbok, meerkats, ostrich, jackals, etc.
In the region are towns like Khorixas, Omaruru and Kamanjab. Other interesting features are the Uis mine and Kalkfield.
