Easy Place to Get Around Jul 23, 2013
From Rai Station, it took us 20 minutes ride to get into the Dam Square.

Dam Square topped the list of things I wanted to visit when in Amsterdam siimply because tourist do.

Dam as known, is located in the city center just a walk awasy from Amsterdam Central Station. Thei it lies the famous Royal Palace and the Nieuwe Kerk. The Royal Palace is the palace was built as a city hall during the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th century. The church is in use by the Dutch royal family for investitures, most recently that of King Willem-Alexander in 2013, and weddings, most recently the wedding of Willem-Alexander to Máxima in 2002 but now it is converted as a exhibit venue for arts and tourists information area. There you will find souvenirs and memorabilia. Musical performances as well is held inside the same edifice. We had not been inside the palace bec there was an a major restoration during that time. Across the palace is the National Monument where they commemorate the Dutch armies who fought for the world war II and the subsequent war after. Around this square you will see busy tourist and local alikes day in and day out.

This place is like a rendezvous for everyone. Surrounding the area you will find restaurants and fast food chain. The trams are passing every other intervals frequently. The throngs of people are crossing everywhere and the sounds of music are emanating as you near the buildings. Stores are open with their glass window display and the snacks bar are busily catching up everyone on the streets.

We enjoyed feeding doves and entertained by other mascots stationing in the main square.

This place is worth a visit. It seem peaceful despite the ocean of tourist. Police officers are everywhere keeping the are at its best.

The most important location of Amsterdam Dec 08, 2008
The Dam Square is the central square of Amsterdam. Created in the 13th century, it is probably the most important location of the city.

Whatever the weather, there is always something going on there. It is full with food stalls, bars, restaurants, shops and monuments.

Of all the attractions in Dam Square, without doubt the Royal Palace is the number one. It was built in the 17th century. At the beginning it was the City Hall and later became Royal Palace (today it’s not home of the Royal Dutch family anymore). Next to the Royal Palace is located the Nieuwe Kerk. Which means: New Church. Actually it’s not that new. It is a 15th century church.

Almost at the centre of the square is situated The National Memorial. A white stone 22 meter obelisk erected in memory of the Dutch victims of WWII. Even the Madame Tussauds

Wax Museum is located in the square.
