Good Fun Feb 24, 2009
Dam Sen Park, mainly the water park is a great time in Ho Chi Minh City. I was skeptical as anyone when my girlfriend conjured up the idea to spend an afternoon there, but that skepticism was immediatly halted.

I won't go into much detail about the regular park because this review is about the water park, but the main area has some food, kiddie rides, games, and shows. The water park, however, is where its at. There is the standard issue wandering (lazy) river tube ride, which is pretty much what you would expect. Another easy going attraction is the wave pool that makes an appearance several times daily. There is the zip line which carries you about 30 meters or so from the start point to the terminus in a deep pool. The workers don't care, so you can do backflips or whatever at the end of the line. For those who have been to Vang Vieng, think those ziplines on a much smaller scale. Regardless, its pretty fun.

Now, the slides. There are 2 tandem tube slides, one open/one closed. Tip: there is a conveyor that carries your tube up to the top, so no need to carry it. There is a set of 4 slides, where you slide down head first on a mat, all the same, all together. There are a set of 4 other slides near the "head firsts", one of which is named the twister. At the end of a closed slide straight shoot, you end up in this bowl which sends you around 2 or 3 times and then drops you in the water. There are also 1 open and 3 closed slides at the other end of the park, near the zip lines.

Some tips:
1. Do not wear shorts/swimsuit with anything metal on the back (buttons, I'm talking about you).
2. Do not go between 11-1 because the kids go during their lunch break and it gets really crowded. Wait until 1 for lineless slides.
3. Food is weak, bring your own and put in your locker for when you want to eat.
4. If you only want to go to the waterpark, continue driving past the first entrance until you see the second one up on your left.

Admissions is 30.000 to the main park, and 70.000 to the water park.
