I was told the further up the strip you went the cheaper it got so I went to the far end of the strip to Dalom (before the road narrows and disappears round a building). The room, on stilts and with giant gaps in the floorboards, seemed a bit insecure for $5/night, and the fan didn’t work, so I wandered to another guesthouse that was cheaper and almost agreed till I saw the WC! At least these rooms have their own bathroom and shower! Plus, I found out, the electricity is only on for 4 hours a day in the evening (except for the internet café which must run off a generator) so the fan would work later. I agreed and on the whole I wasn’t disappointed. It’s in a pretty location, with an outside hammock to relax in, and far enough from the main bars and restaurants to be quieter. The beds came with a mosquito net too so I didn’t get bitten as much as Id suspected I would when I saw those giant cracks! Didn’t try the restaurant. I would definitely stay here again.
