Dakak - long established resort in the Dapitan area Nov 12, 2012
Dakak is a long established resort in Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte. It is in a cove with a nice white sand beach. It also became famous as the Miss Universe candidates toured the place in 1994.

We visited a few years back (2007) and the place looked dated. However I have heard from friends and travel industry contacts that they managed to improve the facilities in the succeeding years.

The highlight is the beach which is relatively isolated from the rest of the cityfolk (from Dipolog which is nearby). Dakak is in Dapitan, a town known in history for being the home of Dr. Jose Rizal (national hero of the Philippines) way back in the 1890s. Within the resort they also have a chapel as well as sprawling lands with lots of trees.

They have cultural presentations (dances, shows) at night - which is an added pleasantry while staying there. Highly recommended during dinner time.

white beach Dec 20, 2009
Dakak is the Boracay of the South and we are so lucky our university is just a couple hours away from it and so we had the chance to visit this famed resort. What is much better is that the place was only 15 minutes away from the place where our National Hero, Jose Rizal was exiled, a cultural treat indeed.

Of course, like any great beach, what we can’t forget is the white sand and the beauty of nature which is very evident in the place. We tried the boat ride as well.

Since we were coming from Marawi City that time, our trip to the resort was 4 hours via Ozamis City (yep, we took the ferry). However, if you’re flying from Manila, the best entry would be from Dipolog City.
