Dahab, the best place a diver can stay in Egypt. I have been to Egypt several times but nothing comes close to Dahab. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is great. Everytime we went to Egypt I got caught by the "curse of the pharao" exept for the time we stayed in Dahab. This says enough. Great places to eat are the "Funny Mummy" egyptian restaurant 300 meters south of Mashraba Bay, the Ëldorado" italien restaurant 300 meters north of Mashraba Bay and also the restaurant of the Blue Beach Club Hotel 150 meters north of Mashraba Bay. The Blue Beach Club is a great hotel. It only has approx. 10-20 rooms, a nice swimming pool, great lounge chairs, the "furry cup" bar which is the local hangout place for all the divers.
Diving is the biggest activity in Dahab, this of course because of the great reefs all around. We have done allmost all the divesites in the area and they are all great. Lots of nudibranchs, some seahorse, big fish and others. We choose "Poseidon Divers", they must be the best. We felt totally home, the diving was great, the atmosphere was always great and we almost did not want to go home again.
Of course there are still the guys who try to make a living by begging you to visit their store or restaurant, but this is only a small 200 meter stretch of the boulevard. You can easely avoid this part by just staying south or north of Mashraba Bay.
We will be back for sure...
