Unforgettable view of the beauty of Korea May 21, 2010
Boseong Green Tea Plantation is a perfect example of what everyone expects Asia to look like. The mountain sides are covered in rows and rows of the fluffiest green tea bushes you have ever seen. It almost looks like you can hop down the mountain side on them. If you go around late April to early/mid May the green tea plants are exceptionally green and the air smells like green tea! Once you get to the park you walk by rows and rows of pine trees which adds to the amazing beauty of the area. The cost of a ticket is around 2,500 won which is about $2.00 US dollars, to me that is super cheap, especially considering the fact the tickets only get cheaper if you are with a group of 10 or more. Once you get in the park the only thing to do really is to hike up the mountain of tea, but it's well worth it. This is definitely a place where you want to bring your camera, and some good walking shoes. If you're not an avid hiker your legs will feel like you just had a great workout the next day. After (or before) your walk, you should venture to this great little store/stand that sells green tea soft serve and green tea smoothies which have been the freshest I've had yet. The store is kind of over priced, and along the way you can find almost the same thing for cheaper, so unless you really like something I would wait to buy it from the little stands just outside the park. Words honestly don't do the place justice. It is one of those things that you have to see and experience to really appreciate. Yulpo is the closest town and it is really small. If you plan to go be aware the taxis are expensive because it is such a small town. I know there is a green tea spa there but I didn't go. The fields are definitely worth a visit if you are here!
