DaZhuShan 大珠山 Jiaonan Reviews
Qingdao Day Trip to DaZhuShan 大珠山 Jan 12, 2012
DaZhuShan 大珠山 provides a scenic day's hiking within 90 minutes of Qingdao using the new cross-harbour tunnel. The park is located in JiaoNan and well located for a swim at YinShaTan (Silver Beach) afterwards.
After arriving at the park you will pay an entrance fee of RMB 40 per adult and RMB 10 per car (hence most cars park on the road prior to the parking lot). Dogs permitted free.
From the main entrance follow the road to ShiMenSi (Stone Gate Temple), then shortly the trail forks with the right path leading to a swinging bridge walkway before rejoining the left fork. Numerous multilingual signs combined with the map on the back of the entrance ticket help to navigate the park's climbing paths and make it difficult to get lost.
For the culturally inclined the park provides a glimpse into historical Buddhist & monastic practices. For those concentrating on the scenery- as you gain elevation- you will find several flowing creeks, bridges, precariously hanging rocks and much for the camera. Views of DaZhuShan, the neighbouring reservoir and out to sea add to the climb.
For the slightly more energetic, a trail is available to the other gate of the park from where a taxi can bring you back to the main gate, if you prefer. In season- the park is famous for a massive display of flowering wild azaleas
The park seems clean and well managed, offering up to 3- 4 hours of hiking.
