The best Italian restaurant you'll never find Apr 03, 2009

Not sure if I should be writing a review of this place. After all, this is not an official restaurant and therefore doesn't show in any guidebook. Then again, the owner gave me a business card to spread the word of mouth, and what better word of mouth is there than a website full of travel enthusiasts. Plus that this restaurant has been featured in the NY Times, so the word is out already anyway.

Da i 2 Ciccioni is a tiny restaurant which offers delicious food in an informal setting. Basically it is a garage with a small kitchen and several tables arranged inside. Food is a set menu, with the chef serving whatever he feels like. This is the type of home-style cooking you don't normally get at restaurants.
Unlimited wine and soft drinks are included in the price of the menu.
Reservations are a must, and it certainly helps to have someone in your party who speaks Italian.

Da i 2 Ciccioni”. I say 'restaurant' in quotation marks because technically it is not a restaurant. The place doesn't have a license and is operating illegally. Basically what it is is a garage with a small kitchen and three tables that can seat… Right, ready for a relaxing day rummaging random Roman ruins in Rome?
