It took to me a long time to learn and accept the fact that Hue is pronounced "way". Once I did, it opened up a whole world of lame rhymes and puns that provided unlimited entertainment for me. The drive from Hoi An to Hue was unexpectedly amazing. We left after breakfast and passed through these g…

On Tuesday afternoon, Ruth and I headed down to Hoi An after I arrived back in Da Nang from Hanoi. Spending the night at Minh A Ancient House, or something along the lines, we found ourselves in an old chinese house with the neatest architecture and most beautiful wood, but it was a bit too cold fo…

The stay in Da Nang was one of rest and relaxation. My friends and I spent our days there at a resort on China Beach. It was a five-star hotel but with my connections, paid the equilvalent of a two-star. We did a day trip to Hoi An and to Marble Mountain. The rest of the time was spent soaking up the rays of the sun on the white sand beach.

Its hard to put into words my feelings about Vietnam. I leave with mixed emotions about a country with a rich heritage and tremendous potential. I had some truly amazing experiences, but my lasting impressions will be of a people that put money above all else... (ie China)
In order to get a real feel for Vietnam, you MUST get off the Lonely Planet path. Its a watered-down experience to be honest. You're treated like a walking wallet. Get away from that scene and you'll see Vietnam...

After the long journey back I decided to unwind with a massage. I did not pick a good place, and we'll leave it at that. Da Nang at night is somewhat dead, or maybe I was out of the loop, but I met up with some other expats and ended up at the same two bars I had been at two days prior.…

Not really a beach person--but I do try to go for a swim at least once every trip. So after playing a gig for some construction workers on their lunch break I hiked down to the beach for my official swim in Vietnam...

I only spent a few days in Vietnam as part of an Indochina tour. To really appreciate this country it would take weeks to explore the hidden beauty of a country with so much destruction endured in its history.

An amazing experience! My first time being back after 15 years... it was more than a traveling experience, but rather a personal one. I've learned so much about myself, my own history and culture and have come to love the people as if they were my family.

An amazing trip. I highly recommend people to travel to Vietnam. Great place to visit and the people are very generous and not very pushy. If you like coffee, they have their own, great food too.

I spent the second day with the same guide but this time in Da Nang and Hoi An. Da Nang can be reached from Hue by way of the new German tunnel and is the home of Marble Mountain. At the base of which are many marble factories, the largest of which I bought some carved lanterns. Wow the detail and …

Well ladies and gentleman this is just a little word of advice. this town half way up (or down) Vietnam looks like a busy big town, with lots of shops but dont be mistaken even in the rain storm (that we got soaked in) That is it that is all that is here...shops... not shoping shops (if that makes …
