Da House Reviews
I liked it... Apr 12, 2009
So this place is awesome located on 312 San Fransisco street. Although you would never know, there is a beautiful adult style hostel located down the cobble stone alley. For one night it was $90 with tax, which I think would be very doable to be in the heart of Old San Juan, specifically in SOFO. There are two people to a room, which you rent out by your party size. It just means that only two people is the max. stay in one room. In the Alley way is a dive in which you can hang out and chat eat some cheap food and what not. There is also the Neuyorican Cafe which is great to visit as well. It is a bar type setting but they have bands, flamenco dancers and such come in for entertainment. When I went in there was a band that was playing old world Spanish style songs and it was beautiful. I also was invited to Salsa and Meringue and the guys gave me lessons. Everyone is very friendly. I spoke little Spanish i knew so maybe that helped, but they also tried and succeeded with English. IT was just a great experience with different rooms. Each room showcases a different Puerto Rican Artist in which you can purchase their art through them. DEFININTLY WORTH A SHOT LOOKIN AROUND!!!

Hidden Jewel for Less Nov 23, 2008
This hotel was extremely clean and the staff was very nice. I was close to the stairs leading to the roof patio which had an excellent view of the island. There was not an elevator and I was on the 4th floor so pack light. Below the hotel is a club with live music each night but the rooms are not sound proof and it was be very noisy till 2:00AM or later. It is very European and I loved my stay; there is no television so you are forced to leave the room and enjoy the city.

Disappointing but interesting Apr 16, 2008
We booked online based on reviews we read and the pics. The location in the heart of Old San Juan was excellent, except for the incredibly noisey bars in the street below--till 4:45 a.m., with no way to shut out the noise short of earplugs. We had a great view from our rooftop(4 floors up) room--but no elevator and 4 suitcases was not fun. And no assistance from staff. Well, we make our way up there to discover a very dirty floor, no kleenex or shampoo. What we did have was one credit card size bar of soap and 2 rolls of toilet paper. No TV, but there was a phone. No ice! You have to go downstairs, outside, and hunt it down. The desk clerk was surly, too. The decor of the place was eclectic and interesting, but the furniture in our room was literally falling part. But this is just my opinion, for what it's worth. If you arrive at Da House with no expectations, you might enjoy it more than we did.

Da House, affordable and great value for Old San Juan Jan 05, 2008
I stayed at one of the apartments that Da House owns. it was literally down the street from the Governor's house. It overlooked the bay of san juan. In high season, I paid practically nothing for an apartment for 4 people! Highly recommend.
