We were hungry after a small breakfast on the plane. this restaurant was next door to our hotel. it was a nice quiet place. there was a bar. the view was a bunch of kids dancing and singing. we ordered 3 dishes it came out to 425 kroner or $70. EEEEEEEEEEEEK we ordered:
"hvitvinsdampede blackjell"- steamed mussels ina cream sauce with white wine and garlic served with bread and butter. "bergenseren"- homemade herring served dickens style. "bergensk fisksuppe" - bergen soup with tiger prawns skewer and vegatable julienne served with bread and butter i enjoyed my meal very much i forgot to add. i loved the bergen soup. it reminds me of clam chowder. the herring was too salty but i think that the "dickens" style. i will try it again. In a central location in the middle of Kong Olav V's plass, the Dickens restaurant complex is a gem in the heart of Bergen city centre. Dickens is an ideal meeting place, whether you drop in for a cup of hot, fresh coffee, come for lunch or dinner or just want to see and be seen. With its big windows facing onto the Torvalmenning square, this is a fantastic place to sit and observe what's going on in the city centre. During the summer months, we have outdoor service with seating for 100 people. We serve delicious refreshments and have a full à la carte menu with something to suit all tastes. The Dickens restaurant complex covers two floors, where the second floor is suitable for parties of up to around 30 persons. We take reservations and can provide special menus if required. The Dickens complex includes the pub, Kontoret ("the office"). With Bergen's largest selection of bottled beers and Scottish single malt whisky, it is the ideal place for discerning customers. The professional and pleasant staff are always ready to guide you through the evening. The latest attraction at Dickens, is Bar Night. Every Friday and Saturday from 11 pm we provide our own DJ, reasonable prices and a fun atmosphere. Everything is laid on for a great evening. Part of the NORWAY 2007 travel blog |
