D Hotel Kortrijk

Stayed in D-Hotel in July 2009. Hotel is easy to find short distance from the motorway, located just outside the city centre of Kortrijk and around 3,5km from the main train station. Hotel has plenty of free parking spaces. Is described as a design hotel, very modern inside and out. Open bathroom design which means there's no door for the toilet or a shower curtain;) Mostly white rather spacious room. LED and halogen lighting which is operated digitally by a panel on the wall and switches by the bed. Also an IPod-touch will be at your disposal during your stay, with that you can look up information about the hotel what usually comes as an old-fashioned information map on the table. But also it lets you surf the Net wireless and free of charge. The same applies if you brought your own computer. Furthermore the mini bar has been replaced by what they call maxi bars. That means vending machines outside your room which can be operated by your room key, simply “a tap as you go” like system.

Be aware, there’s no fridge in the room and the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant therefore no real room service either. Just some light snacks as cheese platter for example.

The hotel advertises for it’s wellness centre, however that’s quite disappointing. Certainly if you have to pay separately for that! During our stay it was luckily free to use due to the promotional package we booked. The wellness centre is rather small and we experienced that all the showers were out of order at some point along with other things that didn’t work or weren’t stocked as advertised. Probably due to the limited access hours of the wellness centre too many people make use in too little time.

All in all, D-Hotel is certainly not bad but can do lots better still I think. Book this hotel if you want a hotel away from busy streets with lots of traffic. Don’t mind a good walk or short drive into the town of Kortrijk. And when you can book it on a promotional price. In other cases it might perhaps be better to look for something else.
